April 20th is a special day. No, not because degenerate marijuana smokers and their 420 meme, but because it’s Adolf Hitler’s birthday!
Today I will celebrate by pointing out the hypocrisy of this Hitler hit piece from Life and then use it for my own ends.
Life presents Hitler’s popularity and success as garish and oppressively authoritarian…
… while at the same time celebrating American political galas as being ‘colorful’.
Oh look, a baby elephant. Nothing showy or over the top about that.
Are those flags and banners hanging about? What kind of fascist assembly is this! Oh wait, is that an American flag? Nevermind. This display is actually colorful and exciting. The American government are the good guys and they never did anything wrong!
Let’s see what Life has to say about Hitler’s birthday bash photos:
Oh, they elicit an unsettling sense of dismay and dread, do they? The use of the power of suggestion is on full display here. When it comes to misrepresenting Nazi Germany as pure evil it’s all about presentation. Instead of seeing the photos for what they really are, the glorious celebration of a wildly popular and successful leader, the audience is setup to believe that they are a dreadful look into a horrific past.
Let’s take a look at some of the photos from the Life article without all the biased editorializing and with my based editorializing instead.
Here we have some of the beautiful gifts bestowed to Hitler on his 50th birthday.
Next we have the celebrated founder of Porsche, Ferdinand Porsche, gifting Hitler a model car- and a real car!
The German people, who are no longer struggling and out of work, thanks to the Nazi regime, gather to watch a parade honoring Hitler.
At the end of the day the night sky was lit up in celebration of Germany’s beloved leader.
Hitler is the most lied about historical figure. All mainstream information about Hitler is curated to portray him as the embodiment of evil. So it’s best to just let the pictures speak for themselves. Happy Birthday, Adolf!
Hitler’s Birthday celebrations look far more civilised than the 1956 Republican national convention.
Everyone is well dressed, behaving respectfully. But that’s oppressive.
