The following article from Russia Beyond presents a collection of Soviet montages that were used for propaganda. With these montages photos of various authors were cut up, assembled into collages, retouched, copied and printed in lower quality. According to the article, “The images in the final newspaper were seamless, without a trace of manipulation.“
What Russia Beyond and other Holocaust affirmers don’t want you to do is apply the knowledge that the Soviets were able to dramatically alter photographs when you are looking at Soviet photographs of alleged Holocaust atrocities. I’m not saying every photo is faked, but one should remember that the USSR had both the ability and motivation to do so. Once again I’ll mention that all of the alleged death camps were in Poland and the Soviets were in charge of their investigations, which included taking photographs.
Let’s look at some examples of known forgeries as presented by Udo Walendy in his article The Fake Photograph Problem. The following photograph was presented in a German book called Macht Ohne Moral with the caption ‘Mauthausen’. Mauthausen was a Nazi concentration camp on a hill above the market town of Mauthausen.
The picture below was used as evidence in the Nuremberg trials (Vol. 30 page 421, and French government’s submissions as document F321). As you can see the standing people are the same in both pictures, however, there isn’t a pile of dead bodies in the foreground. It looks like some Soviet-style montage work was done in the first picture.
Next we have this image which the Holocaust affirming website, HolocaustResearchProject.org, captions, “Kurt Franz administers punishment in Buchenwald”.
About this image Walendy says, “The same picture was also used on postcards with the slogan: This War Criminal Has Not Been Found! which were distributed by American Zionist organizations in the Spring of 1979. The cards were to be mailed to the German prime minister demanding an extension of the statute of limitations. The campaign was successful.”
Walendy also points out some issues with the photograph. Firstly, the uniform worn by the guard in the picture is incorrect, with several details missing like the side pockets beneath the belt are missing and his pistol is hanging on the wrong side. Additionally, the lighting in the picture is inconsistent, with the guard and the hanging victims appearing to cast no shadows, while the prone victim does. Furthermore, the branches used for the hanging are too high, making it difficult to tie the ropes too. The positioning of the hanging victims is not natural with their arms above their heads and their legs drawn up. Finally, the ropes themselves are not visible.
So now the question you should be asking yourself is if there is so much evidence for the Holocaust being real, why fake it? And if someone is caught faking evidence why should you believe their other claims? When pondering questions like this is becomes apparent why it has been made illegal and/or socially unacceptable to question the Holocaust.
