The 5 Million Lie

If you’re an older person like myself you may remember 11 million, not 6 million, being the number of Holocaust victims. This number came from a lie about 5 million non-Jewish deaths that Simon Wiesenthal concocted in the 1970’s to ‘make the gentiles pay attention’. Yehuda Bauer, an Israeli historian and Holocaust scholar, estimates the death of non-Jews in concentration camps to be no more than half a million.

Why is this important? It’s another example of orthodox Holocaust historians changing the narrative. From soap made out of Jewish fat (they dropped this claim) to to shrunken heads (they maintain this absurd claim), there are many once accepted claims about the Holocaust that have been proven false. Sometimes the claim is so problematic to maintain that the official narrative is revised. Despite these known problems with the Holocaust truth seekers are painted as evil and/or stupid for questioning it. If five million deaths were revealed to be an outright lie why should we believe the 6 million deaths with no questions asked?

From Kampeas’ article we get the following statement from Mark Weitzman, the director of government affairs for the Simon Wiesenthal Center, regarding the inflated 5 million number:

This is an interesting insight to how Jews feel about their victimhood in the Holocaust. They see it as a ‘place of honor’ that only they have the right to. It’s also funny that Weitzman criticizes being competitive about Holocaust victimhood when he does that very thing by saying having an inflated number of gentile deaths minimizes and erases Jewish victimhood.

Many have pronounced that the Holocaust has become the secular religion of America and it’s plain to see why. Revisionists are treated like heretics and the victims are put on a holy pedestal that is above criticism and reproach. This is an affront to legitimate religion and to the intellectual pursuits that made America a once great nation. We must break the spell and heal the wounds that the false narrative has inflicted upon the people that it has blood libeled.
