Children in Auschwitz

Auschwitz.org would have you believe that the children of Auschwitz were starving, living under terrible conditions and even the subject of criminal experiments. With the help of an article by Carlo Mattogno, and some basic reasoning skills, we will dispel these claims.

I would like to reference this image that appears when you do a search for ‘Holocaust’. Maybe they should have cropped out the kid on the left side if they wanted their claim of starving children to hold water.

Let’s start with the claims that the children were suffering from hunger and were not given proper food. In 1997, Helena Kubica, researcher at the Auschwitz Museum, published a paper, Dr. Mengele und seine Verbrechen im Konzentrationslager Auschwitz-Birkenau (Dr. Mengele and His Crimes in the Auschwitz-Birkenau Concentration Camp), which made the following revelations that contradict many of the Auschwitz.org claims (which is funny because they have a page dedicated to Kubica which lists this very paper):

Kubica asserts that the nursery was built and maintained for propaganda purposes. This makes me wonder why the Germans would be making propaganda in what was said to be a top secret death camp and who would be the target of such propaganda.

Kubica had access to numerous documents on Dr. Mengele’s activities at Birkenau that were preserved in the archives of the Museum. So what documental evidence was Kubica able to find to uncover of the crimes by the so-called Angel of Death of Auschwitz?

What Kubica produced was a bill of lading to the Institute of Hygiene of the Waffen-SS (SS-Hygiene-Institut) of Rajsko, Hygiene and Bacteriology Section, relating to the “head of a cadaver” (Kopf einer Leiche) taken from a “12-year old child” (12-jähriges Kind).

That does seem rather gruesome until one knows that an epidemic of noma faciei, a disfiguring disease with a high mortality rate, had broken out. It then makes sense that the boy had died of noma and the head was used to conduct research on it hopes of finding a cure.

So if there is no documental evidence of Mengele’s crimes in the Auschwitz museum archives where do these stories of horrific experiments come from? Witness testimony. The chief witness being Miklos Nyiszli, a Holocaust survivor who claimed to be a volunteer doctor under the supervision of Mengele. The topic of Nyiszli’s unreliability as a witness is too big to cover here so I will just give you one example. The tales of evil Nazi medical experiments become unconvincing when you know that they are built from witness testimony rather than physical evidence.

Auschwitz.org also fails to mention a critical factor in what caused the condition of the inmates of Auschwitz when the camp was liberated. That being the fact that Ally bombardment of supply lines caused a shortage of food and medical supplies that not only affected the camps, but all of Germany.

So when the camps were liberated the Allies made a big show of being disgusted at the ‘discovery’ of starving, sick and dead people although they knew that they had a hand in creating the conditions that lead to the starving, sick and dead people. And on top of that the Allies used images of these starving, sick and dead people for anti-German propaganda.

Remind me, who were the good guys again?
