Today I will blow away another strawman that Holocaust Denial on Trial, or HDoT, has erected. HDoT states that just because there were survivors of the Operation Reinhard camps that doesn’t mean they aren’t extermination camps. Of course this is true, however, neither Carlo Mattogno, or any other revisionist, base their arguments against those camps being killing centers on that sole claim. Why does HDoT feel the need to address Holocaust revisionism through constant misrepresentation of revisionist arguments?
In fact, Mattogno has dedicated books to Treblinka, Belzec, and Sobibor. Books that are full of numerous arguments with evidence and citations. If you would like to see the Actual argument Mattogno makes about the 101 survivors see page 106 of Belzec—Propaganda, Testimonies, Archeological Research, and History.
So what is this evidence that shows that “most Western European Jews who were deported to the East were murdered immediately on their arrival at Sobibor, Belzec, and Treblinka“? HDoT provides an example of 34,313 Jews being sent from Westerbork between March and July of 1943. They claim that only 18 of those 33,313 survived the war. Interesting wording there, not survived the camp, but survived the war. HDoT further states, “Holocaust deniers have to then consider the follow-up question: where did the other 34,295 Jews from Westerbork go?” Because the Holocaust occurring is not the default the burden of proof lies on the the accusers to show that the Holocaust happened. It is not our job to track the ‘missing people’ (read my article on that topic here), it is the accusers job to prove they were murdered. To come to the conclusion that “The sheer minority who survived these transports shows that the Nazis and their collaborators murdered the vast, vast majority, usually directly upon arrival at Sobibor” is to use circular logic with the premise that the Holocaust happened and there is no other explanation.
Although the burden of proof does not lie on revisionists to prove the Holocaust didn’t happen that doesn’t stop us from seeking the truth and presenting arguments and evidence for why we believe that the Holocaust did not happen as it is claimed it happened. In Sobibór—Holocaust Propaganda and Reality we are presented with documents from Nazi officials discussing converting the transit camp of Sobibor into a concentration camp in order to set up a munitions defusing workshop. Why would such a thing even be considered if Sobibor was an extermination camp?

That, of course, is just one argument of many. Why does HDoT not address the actual good arguments that Mattogno makes instead of creating a ridiculous strawman? HDoT is hyperfocusing on small details while disregarding the bigger picture in order to avoid being stuck with questions that they would have a difficult time answering. This is something that, funnily enough, Holocaust affirmers accuse revisionists of doing.
What is the bigger picture? The bigger picture is the crime that the Germans are being accused of. That accusation is the murder of 1.7 million Jews in the Reinhard camps. You can’t make 1.7 million bodies disappear, even if you cremate them all in outdoor pits or pryes as is claimed by the orthodox Holocaust historians. There would not only be the ashes from the bodies but also from the wood used to cremate the bodies. So the real question is where is the evidence of the people that were murdered?
